Community & Economic Development

The Central Mississippi Planning and Development District (CMPDD) is committed to improving infrastructure, living environments, and economic well-being across all municipalities and counties within its service area. Whether it involves water and wastewater improvements, new recreational facilities, or industrial park development, CMPDD assists member governments in addressing these needs through funding opportunities, the provision of vital data, and the development of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy.

Designated Economic Development District: CMPDD serves as the designated Economic Development District by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), providing on-the-ground, in-the-community support to member governments. The District also fulfills a similar role for the Delta Regional Authority (DRA), helping communities access federal and state resources for local development.

In addition, CMPDD offers assistance to counties and cities in financing public buildings. Through state-authorized mechanisms, CMPDD has established a public improvement company to support governments with lease-purchase plans for capital projects.
