Now Open for Public Comment: The draft 2026 Modification of the SCMW Local Plan and Appendices are available for public review through September 11, 2026. 

PUBLIC NOTICE — DRAFT 2026 MODIFICATION OF THE SCMW LOCAL PLAN AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC COMMENT

The South Central Mississippi Works (SCMW) Local Workforce Development Board, in partnership with the SCMW Board of Commissioners, invites public review and comment on the proposed 2026 Modification of the SCMW Local Workforce Development Area Four-Year Local Plan, Program Years 2024–2028, and its accompanying Appendices.

The Local Plan guides workforce development services under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) across the seventeen-county South Central Mississippi Works area: Adams, Amite, Claiborne, Copiah, Franklin, Hinds, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lincoln, Madison, Pike, Rankin, Simpson, Walthall, Warren, Wilkinson, and Yazoo counties. This modification aligns the Local Plan with the Mississippi WIOA Combined State Plan, 2024–2028, and with America’s Talent Strategy, and updates the region’s labor market data, target sectors, and service strategies.

Public comment period: Monday, August 3, 2026 through 5:00 p.m. CT, Friday, September 11, 2026.

In accordance with WIOA Section 108(d), the proposed modification is available for public comment for a period of not fewer than 30 days. Comments may be submitted in writing by mail or email to:

Please include “Local Plan Public Comment” in the subject line of email submissions. All comments received during the comment period will be reviewed and considered; comments expressing disagreement with the plan will be submitted to the Mississippi Department of Employment Security together with the plan.
