Metropolitan Planning Policy Committee

The Metropolitan Planning Policy Committee is comprised of local elected and appointed officials representing the county and municipal jurisdictions located in the Jackson MPO planning area boundary, as well as a transit representative from JTRAN and the Director of the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT). This committee also includes the Division Administrator for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in Jackson and the Regional Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), each serve as non-voting members. The Metropolitan Planning Policy Committee serves as the official governing authority for the JUA and is responsible for making policy decisions regarding the transportation planning process. These policy decisions include, but are not limited to reviewing and approving recommendations from the Intermodal Technical Committee with regard to the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), the Prospectus, Project Submittal Guidelines for Federal Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) and Transportation Alternatives (TA) funds, Public Participation Plan (PPP), and the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
