Metropolitan Transportation Plan

The Metropolitan Transportation Plan is a long-range planning document that acts as a comprehensive blueprint to guide future transportation investments in the region for the next 25-years.  The plan identifies transportation needs, policies, strategies, and projects that aim to improve the quality of life for all residents in the region as part of the Jackson MPO’s continuing, comprehensive, and cooperative planning efforts.  The Metropolitan Transportation Plan is updated every five (5) years to reflect new planning priorities and changing patterns in population and economic growth that may impact travel demand. The plan is developed as part of a coordinated process between the Jackson MPO, local communities, various local, state, and federal agencies, and the public in order to develop regional solutions to maintain, manage and improve the regional transportation network.

The 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan was adopted by the Jackson Metropolitan Planning Policy Committee on November 12, 2020.  The 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan is comprised of two main components the Executive Summary and seven (7) Technical Reports.  For more information about the Metropolitan Transportation Plan please contact Jackson MPO staff by email at mpo@cmpdd.org or by phone at (601)981-1511.
