CMPDD is Accepting Grant Applications for $3 million available through the Jackson Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Transportation Alternatives

On November 9th CMPDD announced the availability of $3 million in Federal Transportation Alternatives (TA) program funds for transportation improvements in the metropolitan area which includes portions of Hinds, Madison, and Rankin Counties.

Project applications for TA funding must be received by the CMPDD by January 27, 2023. Once received, the applications will be reviewed and graded based upon the project evaluation criteria approved by the MPO Policy Committee. The MPO anticipates announcing funding awards for the projects ranked the highest during the application evaluation process in May 2023.

Local jurisdictions with applications selected for funding can receive up to 80% in Federal TA funding for construction and construction engineering costs for a proposed project.  Local jurisdictions are required to provide a minimum 20% in local matching funds.

The MPO’s last call for TA applications took place in February of this year and resulted in four (4) projects receiving $1.6 million in TA funding.   For more information about the Jackson MPO or the call for projects please visit
