The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) has received a Katrina Supplemental CDBG Economic Development fund award from the Mississippi Development Authority in the amount of $10,000,000. The CDBG funds will be specifically used to fund site and infrastructure work necessary to support a new building to house the School of Medicine.
UMMC will invest approximately $51 million in the new building and it will result in the creation of 200 new jobs on campus. Site work will begin in November 2013 and building construction will begin in November 2014. CMPDD assisted UMMC with the preparation and submission of the application and will serve as the grant administrator.
